New Poem- Stepping Away

Stepping Aside

By Chuka McCoy

(This contains a non spoiler discussion of Spider-Man 2002)

Of lately

I have thought about this scene

In the movie Spider-Man (2002)

Where Peter steps aside to let

This robber run away from being caught

I initially thought, probably like others, to step aside

To let the craziness happen without being involved

While taking a breath is necessary,

I know I can't stop making a difference

Even if it's just person at a time

But then I also saw that scene in a different way

Peter had the power to stop the criminal

From getting away

But chose not to because how he felt

About the pay he was suppose to get

That criminal went on to do personal damage

To Peter's life and he regretted not stopping them

While he had a chance

I hope that people will have the ability to be a hero

Despite things that they did

That might cause them regret

New poem- Get Ready to Disappear

Get Ready to Disappear
By Chuka McCoy

There are people out and about
Promoting a particular project
That will affect life as you know it
And not in a good way
"We The People
Up here at the top
Sit pretty and do whatever we want
While everyone that doesn't bend to our will
Will be gone
People that don't agree with us
Look like us
Act like us
Associate with us
And line our pockets
Will disappear
Deportation
Murder in an official act
Starting up the military draft
It won't matter
If you are a citizen here or not
You are all insignificant and beneath us"
It's time to be seen and heard
It's time not be treated like worthless citizens
Or a fly at THEIR barbecue cookout
Let's show them that people
From the projects to the penthouse
Will not disappear
And we are stronger
Than their quest for power over all

New Poem- Be Better

Be Better

By Chuka McCoy

Woke

Adult please

Stop letting the record skip

Or even break

Repeating this word

Parrots say

"You sound old and out of touch, Dr. Evil"

Say something different

Do something different

Be better

Work together

Instead of letting that word

Be a substitute for everything

And everyone that

You hate and fear

New Poem- Permit Me To Say

Permit Me to Say

By Chuka McCoy

Hey kid

Do you want to drive?

Well, here's a car

Go out on the road and enjoy

You don't know how to drive?

We will get around that and you will learn

You don't have a permit to drive?

So what!

We need as many people out there

To drive with cars

That they don't know how to use

Or learn how to use

Or want to use

Who cares who you might hurt

Guns,

Eh, I meant

Cars for everyone!!

New Poem-It's Time

It's Time by Chuka McCoy

It's time

To change our tune

To not go through the same song and dance

That we have been through for DECADES now

The ability to limit the amount of people that

Should NOT have guns in this country

Has been out there

But politicians that are getting their pockets stuffed

With money from gun lobbyists

Vote time and time again

To not put those checks in place

While

YOUR loved ones

YOUR friends

YOUR children

Getting MURDERED on a weekly basis

When it could have been prevented

And what do we get from those same politicians in each instance?

Enough of the minimum amount of empathy

To skirt past the issue

Until next week's mass shooting happens

ENOUGH

Stop the dancing

DO something to improve it

Or we need to improve on the people

In that position

Otherwise

We will need more land for graveyards

A message to my cousin (2/7/2021)

This is the message that I wrote to my cousin, who passed away last year, before the start of the Super Bowl.

Mario,
Here's comes the Super Bowl. I know we normally talk before kickoff. I miss you down here. You'll be happy to know the Bucs got into the big game. Hopefully, things goes well tonight. I love you.

New poem-Angels

Angels

By Chuka McCoy

There are people

That guide us through life

These angelic souls

Lend their voices

To shape and mold our world

But they are here for a short time

The void left by their departure is big

But we must be those angels

That pick up where they left off

Their voices will be part of

What we have to say
